Pathways Institute Participants and Instructors:
Thank you to everyone who took part in Pathways Institute for Lifelong Learning® virtual classes in May and June! We hope you enjoyed the experience, in spite of the circumstances, and found the content interesting and engaging.
As an added benefit, we were able to record June’s virtual courses. They are now available to view free of charge on the Pathways Institute website which can be viewed by clicking here. If you have not yet participated in a virtual class, this is a great chance to take a look at what these classes are like, along with the opportunity to learn from some of our excellent instructors.
Pathways Institute is also looking forward to kicking off the Fall 2020 term with a Virtual “Open House” on August 25, 2020! This event will take the place of the traditional kick-off for both the Lancaster and Capital Region and will provide participants with the opportunity to explore course offerings and chat with instructors through Zoom. More details and an invitation will follow closer to the date.
As a reminder, we’re looking forward to offering a “hybrid” version of the Fall 2020 term. Since none of us can predict with certainty the impact that COVID-19 will have over the next few months, we believe this to be a sensible solution.
- The term will run from September 29, 2020 – December 16, 2020
- We will offer both in-person and virtual course options:
- In-person: For these courses, instructors will present in-person to small groups gathered on-site following all necessary precautions. In-person group sizes will be consistent with safety guidelines for the host site at the time of the course. These courses will also be live streamed through Zoom, so other participants can “join in” remotely if they wish. If at any point in time in-person gatherings become restricted, in-person courses will be changed to virtual-only courses.
- Virtual: For these courses, instructors will present entirely on Zoom.
- Service Learning opportunities will continue. In fact, you can start contributing to these projects now! Donations of fabric are needed for the Days for Girls and Baby Gowns projects. Anyone local to Mechanicsburg, may drop off donations between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm with Resident & Guest Services in Village Square at Messiah Village. Please wear a face mask on campus. Click here to view more details.
Finally, we recognize that this move to virtual courses and additional online communications is not ideal for some members. We are happy to offer assistance to anyone experiencing technical difficulties, or would appreciate the added support as a first-time Zoom user. We will be offering free introductory sessions on how to use Zoom in September. More details about these sessions and helpful resources will be provided in the Fall 2020 catalog.
We’ve created this email troubleshooting document for anyone experiencing difficulty receiving emails from our team.
We are looking forward to all of the lifelong learning opportunities planned for this fall, and hope that you will join us! If you have any questions, please contact the Pathways Institute office at 717.591.7213 or info@thepathwaysinstitute.org.
